Subject: Re: 9000 pictogram problem

There is a Saab tech note somewhere that instructs to fix the taillight condition, you need to run new grounds. I have done this, and it does not completely work, but this is a grounding problem, at least in part, though I think it could be the pictogram relay, itself. I have had the problem of one tail light, and one front parking light out on my '88 9k T for better than five years. I had all kinds of electrical problems, and so methodically started pulling every connector under the hood, yanked out the glove box, and pulled every connector in the fuse panel, and either sanded, or used jewler's files to clean up the contacts. Then on the rear, I took 12 gauge copper wire, and strung it between the rear light fixtures, and then dead center of the car, filed clean a spot on the body, drilled a whole, and affixed the ground thereto, with a sheet metal screw, and metal washer. I emery clothed every fucking bulb, and wire brushed every light socket - I spent well overe 8 hours doing all this, and while it took care of the other electrical problems, there to this day remains one taillight, and one front parking light out. The suggestion was then made that it was the p. relay - but at some $200, I am not going to bother.
