I drive a 12 year old Saab - definitely not a status symbol. It is an inexpensive, reliable and fun (especially in the winter) to drive. I know of people who bought the newer Saabs and BMWs as status symbols. They don't maintain them and then complain about their poor quality and high operating expense. > > > My main point is, if someone has never owned a particular brand, why would > you be so vehemently opposed to it? I looked at an older 325, the price was right, but something bothered me. There was surface rust on all of the exterior and visible inside metal. The car ran fine on a test drive, but someone said that maybe this was a flood car and should be avoided . . . > > > But hey, as my Dad used to say, "That's why they have horse races..."
