Nobody seems to know anything about the soft top as far as I can tell. I asked several questions via this newsgroup and no one replied. In the UK we have specialist companies who will replace the gears on the motor and strighten out the backplate (which seems to be why they strip in the first place) and then add a strengthening plate to stop it happening again. This cost me £250 - which I find staggering for parts that would probably cost £10 and an hours work! And then the hood needs to be programmed which cost me another £60. Total cost to me : £310 (about $450 US I guess). I hope you have more luck than I had as I can't believe that someone can't supply the gear wheel on its own. It's a simple job to replace it if you could get a spare. If I'd had time I would have taken the gear and got a few made up by my local specialist engineering shop. I don't suppose this is much help but good luck anyway.
