Lloyd, I picked up an '89 9000 Turbo last Spring with approx 220,000 km on the clock. It's my first Saab, after many other brands -- almost all either Japanese or European. 9000's can be tempermental, but my experience so far has been excellent. It's a great highway cruiser, and has loads of space for hauling stuff -- I have the 5-door hatchback. It's personal preference, but I'd never even consider the sedan because of the less- practical design. The sedan also has self-levelling shocks that I understand can be annoying. The '89 MY also advantages over the early- nineties models in that they've simpler electronics; eg, the TCS (traction control) and DI ignition can be real serious (read, expensive fixes). It's usually also recommended to avoid the automatic transmission. There's lot's of info available on the web -- both pro & con. Find a good example that's been well maintained and I think you'll be hard pressed to get more car for the money. Good luck, Rod.
