The cam cover (the bit on top of the engine) is much bigger on a 16v, and sometimes says "16v" on it! But if you've never seen either, 'much bigger' doesn't mean a lot to you. So the answer is this: If it's an 8v, you'll be able to follow the ignition leads all the way from the distributor to the spark plugs. If it's a 16v, the you'll see the leads at the distributor, but then they vanish under a cover, so you can't see where they plug into the spark plugs. But don't be put off if it's 8v - there's nothing wrong with the 8v head. In some ways, it's more fun than the 16v. -- Grunff
