You need to fix that in the next couple of days, Carl. When your CV goes, you will be completely immobile unless you happen to be on a hill. By the time it's past just making noise, into the grabbing-the-wheel mode, the balls in the CV are starting to spall in their grooves (races? Are they called races in a CV I wonder?), and it's a matter of a short time before you get one last loud noise and a bunch of pieces where they don't belong. >> What colour is the smoke? I'm not sure what, if anything, to make of that. If you're not hearing gravelly noises from the turbo (a bit of whine is normal and OK), I'd keep an eye on it but not get overly concerned. If/When it does go, might not be a bad idea to retrofit it to a water-cooled turbo. I have one here in my basement, but I'm on the wrong continent to do you much good. > I'm pretty close to needing an oil change, going to give it a good > service before the MOT, after I get the boost situation sorted with a > new dumpvalve, and fixing the vacuum leak. I think the CV joint should take priority over the vacuum leaks, if it were my car. Dave Hinz
