Subject: Re: use fossil or synthetic oil?

Hello Grunff Point taken... and a couple of follow on questions... for the purposes of this discussion, what would you consider too high a mileage for synthetic oil to be used? in such a car, (or any other) would using semi-synthetic be wise, would it avoid the oil seal shrinkage, while giving hopefully most of the benefits of synthetic oil, and at about half the price of synthetic, (about twice the price of conventional oil.) I know you get what you pay for, and having your cake and eating it too is a dream... but does semi-synthetic have benefits in this case without downside? Thanks in advance for your opinion gc "Grunff" said: > While I'm in no way disputing the fact that synth is very good, > and especially appropriate to turbos, there is a real, big > danger of *major* oil leaks when switching from mineral to synth > at higher mileages. > > I've personally experienced this twice, and seen it happen to > others many times.
