Say in the 2004 model year? Don't put too much into the lack of these "curtains". The 9-5 has proved to be one of the safest cars ever tested by EuroNCAP. In fact, it passed the side-collisiontest even without having side-airbags (wasn't available back then). Look at it this way: In other cars you may get killed/badly injured, even WITH curtain-airbags, due to poor/failing safetycage construction. Compared to the Saab 9-3, the 9-5 is bigger, meaning less stress on the passengers and more space towards the sides. Cheers!
