I use an oil vacuum device; it has a long tube which goes down the dipstick hole, and sucks all the oil out. Contrary to common misconception, these devices remove at least as much, if not more oil than draining from the sump plug. > 2. would it be possible to epoxy resin the aluminium, > and just see if that works, i.e. with the nut in use ? > This might be bad because it would mean the alum. > is still being stressed every time the nut is used. You could certainly try it, but I'd be surprised if you had any long term success. Every time you do/undo the plug, you'll move the crack enough to start it leaking again. One other solution is to use a flexible sealant (polyurethane would be my choice). So every time you change the oil, clean thoroughly with meths and seal the plug in place with PU. This will still allow you to remove it easily for future oil changes. > most grateful for the assistance, Anytime. -- Grunff
