Turned on my A/C today and it is not blowing cold air. 86 SAAB 900 T 3-door. I like this car. It only has 225,000 miles on it. Everything works (except the A/C). Should I get it fixed with R-12 or convert to R-134A? I gotta have A/C. I live in Golden, 6300 feet, so it's not like Phoenix or Houston... Every mechanic I have ever talked to says R-134a sucks. Every owner I have ever talked to (who converted) says it's not as good as R-12 but it does work. Of course, systems designed for R-134a work well, I have heard. It's the retrofits that are up in the air, so to speak. Probably call Mile Hi Auto Body tomorrow. They fixed it 7 years ago for $140. If a couple $300 will buy me another few years, I'd go for it. But what about the compressor, etc? Thanks for any advice, Charles.
