Saab sell a seal kit for the 1975 onwards 99 calliper (Is it > the same?) 89 94 535. These have a habit of gunging up apparently, but > less so in our balmy weather!!! > Didn't even get a s far as taking the wheel. With full lock applied, I was able to get to the caliper easily, and using lots of carburettor cleaner (enviromentally nasty, but evaporates completley away after unlike WD40, plus gas etc) I was able to get the lever moving freely back to fully open. Seems it was mostly gummed up on the outside. Did the setting of the brake using the haynes. Four or five stabs on the footbrake, followed by 3 or 4 clicks on the handbrake till it lights the light, followed by 4 or 5 more on the footbrake , then handbrake clicks till it locks. Jacked the front wheel up and checked. Locked solid. Fully released and the wheel turns smoothly, slight drag, but not binding, and it is even. Re-applied the handbrake, partial hold at 5 clicks, locked wheel at 6. Going to apply lots of copper grease going round that lever in a little while to try and keep it cleaner. Can't get a retest till thursday though. New number plate fitted, but I couldn't believe the grief to get a new one £10, plus needing to show the logbook, and a photo driving license, just because it had a crack across the corner of the first letter, and on a speed camera it might have looked like a B or an R. -- Carl Robson (The poster formerly known as Skodapilot) http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
