I had a similar incident with my then 'a couple of months old 2002 9-3' when my son was playing with the audio system in the garage. Suddenly the volume went to max and the system did not answer pushing any button anymore. I remember it happended when we took the key out of the lock to see if the audio system would remain on; in many european cars everything shuts down when the key is removed. The system went berserk when I pushed the metal ring around the keyhole down with my finger after the key was removed. However, I don't remember the SID displaying anything out of the ordinary. When I put the key back in things went back to normal and it never happened again....... I also - maybe once a month - have a related problem: when I start the car the radio starts playing, but the controls on the steering wheel don't work at all and the SID does not display the name of the station etc. (RDS) When I shut down the audio systm by pushing the volume button and then restarting it - sometimes a couple of times - things start working again. So far my dealer has not been able to find anything wrong at all. I suspected a bad connection somewhere, but so far none has been found. I realize it probably won't help you at all, but nevertheless......
