If you are adding fluid, find out which one is in the transmission now and stick with it. If you are putting in a new transmission, its your call. The non-synthetic fluid is compatible with motor oil if you ever need to top it off. The synthetic fluid is not, so if you ever need to add fluid, you will have to find more of the same stuff. As for increasing the life of the transmission -- someone else will have to answer that.
