But my question is for this NG, is an extended = warrantee >a good idea for this model and is this package too expensive? > I'd be a bit suspicious of third party warranties: insurance companies have a habit of going broke over here. Particularly over a 10 year period! Ten years warranty cover seems a bit too good to be true. I got a Saab backed extended warranty, but it only covered an extra 2 years after the 3 year standard warranty expired, and cost around $1000. I couldn't get a longer extended warranty here. There were exclusions too - eg "Trim", so when the walnut dash cracked, that wasn't covered at all. Saab did come to the party to the tune of 50% though, when I wrote and complained. I have had about $3500 worth of repairs done under the 2 year extended warranty, so as far as I'm concerned, it was well worth it. Things like a turbocharger, SID, both LCD panel displays and engine management faults which required a tow back to the dealer. All the repairs were done by the Saab dealer, no questions asked, and I have no complaints. If you can get 10 years for only $3500, and the company is reliable, then that sounds like a great deal to me, but I'd rather have a Saab-backed warranty, even if it's not for 10 years. --=20 Regards, Peter Wilkins
