I get this image of an obnoxious american desecrating a lovely Saab with his Mcdonalds and Coffee! its not a design flaw! maybe you should use those 'cupholders' they thoughtfully moulded into the glove box lid?? ;o) very useful I never eat or allow anyone to eat/drink in my car - keeps it clean that way.
