Subject: Intermittent power loss after a service...

Just had my 1988 900 T16S serviced, and now I have a problem I've not had in the previous year of ownership. Now, of course, I'm going to take it back and ask them about it, but I wonder if anyone might recognise the problem anyway, especially as I don't know whether it'll do it when they check it out... At moderate speeds, I'm getting occasional, bursty and abrupt power loss. Like, travelling at about forty mph (at around 2500 rpm), just every now and again, the car will buck a little like the engine just drops power completely. It'll happen a few times in a row, then everything carries on as normal. It's got to be for less than half a second each time, and it'll do it for maybe five seconds or so, and then be OK. I've only noticed it in the last five or ten miles I've done, and it only seems to happen at speed: idling, the engine sounds absolutely wonderful. Sometimes it'll be absolutley fine in exactly the same conditions, too. The only thing I notice is the bucking -- there's no associated sounds or anything else that I can tell. It's almost like I'm just tapping the brake quickly a few times -- and no, I'm not wearing really big shoes today ;-) Any ideas, folks? Something they might have disturbed during the service? It's annoying me, because this dealer's always done great work for me, apart from this one niggling thing that's appeared at the same time. The service was done by the regular guy, who has two old 900s himself. It was a straight interim service, except that they also replaced the cam case cover gasket because it was leaking.
