Subject: oily exhaust smell through HVAC vent on 1995 900s non-turbo

Does anybody have any ideas why I can smell an oily exhaust smell on my 1995 900s (non-turbo) when I turn the HVAC system to "vent." When idling at stoplights, it's easy to smell. Sometimes at low speed, it can be smelled. When switched to "recirculate," the smell doesn't intrude into the system. It's the exact same smell as the crankcase...you know that smell, open up the oil filler cap and take a deep breath. It's almost as if the crankcase is venting into the car. Any ideas where to look to resolve this one? regards, Paul
