Nothing's perfect in the world of the classic 900 :) The mechanical issues you mentioned (oil leaks, crap clutch, soggy shocks, etc) should be easy enough to resolve, but take advice from your mechanic. If it really moved and hit 3/4 up the yellow without tailing straight off, the turbo system is fine. No blue smoke? With a little cash and TLC, it should be fine.
