The Pacifica I mentioned in my previous posting could be considered part of that class. GM sold the Tracker (OK, so technically that was an Isuzu), but it was discontinued due to poor sales. Maybe it was too small. GM has the compact Blazer/Jimmy (S series models) and it has been popular for over 15 years. Ford has the Escape (shared with Mazda as the Tribute) that seems to be doing well. It replaced the compact Bronco SUV that was offered for many years. Even the Jeep Cherokee (and now the Liberty) is smaller than the full sized models it replaced which were renamed Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoneer. People just think that all SUV's are huge, when that is not actually true (or maybe it is by European standards). The only person I know that has a really big SUV - a Chevrolet Suburban - is someone that uses it to tow a really big boat from Illinois to Wisconsin. I guess if they can afford the boat, they can also afford the Suburban and the fuel for everything. Walt
