I've seen a few abrasions from airbags; basically rug-burn type irritation on the face. Uncomfortable, but better than steering wheel or dashboard of course. Some folks aren't aware that they're packed in a cornstarch or similar powder (to keep them from sticking together during the years of non-use), and when this comes out they think the car is on fire. It's pretty dusty, and can irritate the eyes, but it's not smoke. I don't think enough people know what to expect with airbags; when they deploy, when they don't, how quickly they'll deflate, that sort of thing. > If you're quite short -- and you need to be very short, what with the > 9-5's telescoping wheel -- then you should see if pedal extenders will > give you enough clearance before getting the airbag disabled. Does Saab have a recommendation for this case, I wonder? Dave Hinz
