Why do you want a Saab? If you want a fun car - a Classic(93 or older) is hard to beat, see the previous thread for reasons. Many Classic 900 owners will tell you a 5 speed manual is the way to go - one of the reasons is the automatic transmissions don't last as long a manual, so an older Saab in the $3,000 range with either have a manual or an automatic with potential issues. What do you want to do in the Saab? The 1987 and newer have hand brakes on the rear wheels - you would never do hand brake turns, would you???? The Classic has a distinct, somewhat loud engine sound - distinctly Saabish. I can tell you what not to expect in an older Saab - factory cup holders! saabseeker wrote: > I am looking to purchase a used Saab (~$3k).
