There are situations in which liability can be discarded, and some not. The key here though is that US Federal Regulations allow the installation of a disconnect switch for the *passenger*. In fact, they are factory installed (standard) equipment in some newer cars. As long as a shop complies with the federal regulations it would be very difficult to find the mechanic liable. If you check the Federal Reg's you'll find that there's an official application that you have to fill out and have approved and within this you are forced to acknowledge the dangers, AFAIR. Bob
