Subject: Forward Visibility and Tall Drivers

Hello everyone. I test drove some NG900's and a C900 this weekend. The C900 was great (1993 16V NA 5 speed, cloth interior 117,000 miles), and I might buy it for a winter car if I had the cash and parking, but the NG900 is more what I am looking for. One thing that I experienced in both to some degree, but especially in the NG (especially a 1997 900 SE 2.0t) was that the forward visibility wasn't great. Perhaps I can find a better seat position, but I my eye level was about the top of the windshield, which caused two problems. First, traffic lights were sometimes difficult to see. But far worse was the large blind cone created by the rearview mirror and the black paint on the windshield above the mirror. Here is an example from a BMW Z3 owner: http://www.z3mirrors.com/rollover.htm (but at least you can see over the mirror unlike an NG900). I'm only 6'2" or so, and I know some taller folks like the Saabs, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone removed the stock mirror and glued a standard mirror to the black part of the windshield? Yes, I know it will eventually fall off, but I'd rather have improved visibility. _________________ Messages sent to the address in the header will be ignored.
