I've recently bought a 1999-registered 9-5 estate (wagon for US readers). I'm generally pleased with it, but the way that it handles bumps while cornering briskly is quite odd, it feels like the back is going to step out. Obviously it is a big car, so you can't expect sportscar handling, but it doesn't inspire confidence. I noticed that the damper and spring on the offside rear have a coating of oil on their surfaces, so I guess that the damper may be leaking and thus not working too well. Although just bouncing it up and down on the drive, it didn't seem too bad. Any thoughts ? Is this standard 9-5 handling, or does it sound like mine has a problem?
