That makes good sense to me (I might be tempted myself altho I do like my new Optiplex with 18" lcd screen and it's been ages since I've seen a BSOD in XP or W2K). >>Apparently Mac users don't really care what they use unless it has the >>shiny Mac logo on it... > > Apparent to whom, based on which incomplete observations on your part? Aha, you're assuming my observations are incomplete. It's apparent to me, YMMV. I'll expand on my observations so you can follow my - undoubtedly - twisted logic: - The Mac userbase has been relatively constant in numbers (there hasn't been a huge growth AFAIK) - Most Mac users stick to their machines & MacOS (as do Win users) - Therefore most Mac users got in at the time the MacOS had nothing to do with Unix. - Mac users have always been relatively strong advocates (defending their 'choice' to be different) - I followed some of the debates in wich the Mac advocates used to defend the Mac's lack of a CLI (Command Line Interface) vigorously. - Now that the Mac OSX at last comes with a command line it's suddenly the greatest thing since sliced bread. >>Yes, I like Macs a lot more than I used to since they have OSX, but I >>still hate the subculture of cool-for-cool-sake followers around them. > > People who don't understand Saabs and why they have such an intense following > probably feel the same way about Saab. Do they have an intense following compared to other minority brands? My present car is a Land Rover Discovery and I think they have an intense following as well. I noticed - after driving mine for years - that other Discovery owners actually waved at me when I drove by. Please tell me that *won't* be the case for my new 9-3, cause I hated it... X.
