I actually think there's a lot less Mac evangelism now that OS X is here. Mac-heads always sounded very much like Amigans who doggedly would not embrace "the Borg" a few years ago. My motivation for buying an iMac was when I had enough money to build a PC, I was going to build up something with candy coloured styling. After a little re-thinking, I decided to go for an iMac (OS 8.6 as it was then), really "just to see". I really struggled with it for a couple of weeks until I got my head out of Windows mode and back into Amiga mode :) OS X has made it all worthwhile - it's a very pleasing environment where everything just fits together; very much like a well tuned GNOME environment (which I run on one of my PCs, but still "X" to it from the Mac and find the environments very interchangeable). I'm not an evangelist, just a convert. I would recommend a Mac, but have always said that people who only know Windows should stick with Windows. People who want a new OS experience and are prepared to put in some time getting used to it should try one and decide from there whether to buy. It's a home computer for me - it runs a web browser, e-mail & news client, has an office suite and copes well with scanning, photography, MP3 storage and CD burning - that's all I need for a home PC. My beige boxes stay upstairs in a cupboard, running Slack (as a file & print server cum "data dump") & RHL (as an X server). I've trimmed down a lot of computers over the last year - I don't have the time for mucking about with them anymore and I'm very happy with an iMac and couple of Linux boxes that "just work". As for the Saab - I'm an evangelist! They're simply better than any other car out there and there's no telling me otherwise :) I always wanted a Ford Capri when I was a kid, but one day a white 900 turbo whistled past me and I just went "wow, I've gotta have one of those when I learn to drive". Now, I've had three and doubt I'll ever not own a Saab in some form or other. Paul 1989 900 Turbo S http://saab.go.dyndns.org/
