Subject: Well - I blew it

Salutations: OK - here's what I've done.. My passenger window ('89 9000T CD) was grinding and got stuck fully open even though I had warned everyone that it shouldn't be opened until I could spend some time and perhaps money taking it apart and fixing it.. I got the panel open and found, as I suspected, that the upper wire had slipped off the plastic disk and was working on the pulley shaft behind the disk instead.. When I got the crochet needle in there and pulled the cable trying to get it to slide back onto the disk - I overshot and the cable dropped off the front of the pulley disk.. In my panic - I started pulling the cable off it's lower disk trying to get some slack to put it back on the top and got the cable itself free from the plastic stay on the window brace.. However, I then tried to get some slack by turning the main window motor on and off - it consumed all the available cable so that now - I have nice extremely short loop of cable with no slack even though it's not attached to anything on the window and have rigged the window shut with a tie wrap under the brace.. Which is good - as the 'rainy' season is upon us here in Nova Scotia.. God help me if I hit a serious enough bump though.. I have really messed up here and was wondering if anyone had any details on how to get the cable to slack off enough to get it back around pulleys then tighten it up enough to keep it there.. I assume I'm taking the whole assembly (save the actual glass and associated lower clip) out - but surely there is some way to get the window motor to play out enough cable so I can rethread it?.. Please advise.. I'm tapped as usual - so long and often overlooked details would be helpful.. -- J Dexter - webmaster - http://www.dexterdyne.org/ all tunes - no cookies no subscription no weather no ads no news no phone in - RealAudio 8+ Required - all the Time Radio Free Dexterdyne Top Tune o'be-do-da-day Andrews Kaye - Bongo Bongo Bongo http://www.dexterdyne.org/888/092.RAM
