This shop sounds like a ripoff or they don't know their Saabs. The 94 and newer might cost $1,100 because the engine layout is different from yours. You have a classic with the clutch up front behind the radiator. Many people change it themselves, some experienced people reported a time of only 30 minutes because of the easy access.
