Subject: Poor gas milege on a '90 900

Is there anyone out there who might know the cause of poor gas milege (under 10 m.p.g. in city driving) in a 1990 Saab 900 non-turbo? The car has less than 60,000 original miles and has never had any major work aside from recommended maintainence. The car passes smog testing and seems to drive fine. The check engine light does go on occasionally. The code for the check engine light indicated something about the idle circuit ( I can't remember the exact wording). I read somewhere that leaking O-rings on the fuel injectors sometimes can cause poor milege. Any other items that might be likely culprits on this model? Thanks! David in California
