The AAV can't be the problem here. It should just raise idle rpm about 100-200 rpm when cold but the engine should run pretty fine without it. You should check for air leaks and disable egr-system, my T8 leaked air from there. But I think the issue here could be due a faulty control pressure regulator. You can check you control pressures in proper repair shop. Thermo time switch can be tested measuring (engine off) the resistance from pin 2 to ground. 0-5ohm when cold and about 140 ohms when warm.
