From: "Fred W."
'92 9000T. I just replaced the balance and timing chains along with the balance sprocket on the crank and the exhaust side timing chain guide. Now there is a faint whirring noise which is proportional in pitch to the engine speed. Has anyone else that replaced their chains noticed such a phenomenon? I am certain that the cahins and guides are all assembled correctly. I've actually done a timing chain before (on a different 9000). I was thinking it might be the new guide or chain "wearing in"? Has anyone had one that started a little noisey and then wore in? I was also considering removing and reinstalling the timing chain tensioner on the possibility that the ratcheting mechanism has the chain running too tight? I did not install the tensioner until after the valve cover so it should be correct, but what else could it be? TIA, Fred
