Subject: first trip in the 9000CS

Made my first "long" trip in the 19995 9000CS I bought last month. From Knoxville, to Troy, Ohio. On my way to Rossburg to get in touch with my inner redneck:). Horrible night, pouring rain for most of the 300 mile trip up I-75. But the Saab performed like a trouper. Much less white-knuckle than other cars I've taken on the same trip under similar conditions. There are some good size mountains along the way and a lot of grades and very heavy semi traffic. Felt very sure-footed, even in the heaviest downpour. Had much better vision in those conditions, particularly with the fog lights on. Those are wonderful for finding the white line/reflectors. For such a small car in size, it was very stable in the wake from the big trucks. That really surprised me. Do any tires cut the road noise much? I'm not sure what I've got on now, but they got pretty thumpy. Three miles over ridged pavement -- where they've stripped the black top off and are getting ready to repave -- was quite an adventure. I filled the tank before I left -- with premium -- and it's more than half full now. The mpg indicator shows almost 29mpg which isn't bad considering the grades. Tach was pretty steady at 2-2.5 for the trip. lauraknopsamousergraphics.com http://www.madmousergraphics.com web design, print design, photography
