Thanks. I'm pretty sure now it's not a timing / ignition issue. I replaced the plugs leads tonight just in case, though. Got under the car and listened closely -- it seems like a knocking from inside the 5-speed tranny -- something that sets-up a vibration all the way back to the tail pipe -- which explains the sputtering I'd been hearing. I'm stumped though -- guess I need 'professional' help now. Rod.
