Greetings from Rochester! Depending on exactly where you need to drive you will find that snow removal is excellent here. The vast majority of people get by on all-season radials, but proper snow tires will give you an additional measure of confidence, especially on those days when you have to drive before the snow plows have been through your neighborhood. You will often drive on an inch or two of snow, but rarely on 6 inches or more. I have used Blizzaks and like them because they are amazing in icy conditions, but they don't last very long. I have used Nokian Qs for the last two seasons and like them very much. They are about as good as the Blizzaks on ice and I think they will last much longer. By the way, you will be spending far less time in your car. It almost never takes more than 20 minutes to travel between any two points in the greater Rochester area -- add 5 minutes during "rush hour". :-) -- Doug Schwarz dmschwarz&urgrad, rochester, edu Make obvious changes to get real email address.
