The short form answer is that it's not a good idea and only if it has R134A now. If it has the old refirdgerant (R13?) a conversion is required-compressor, drier, seals, about $700. If all you need is a recharge take it to an AC shop-it'll be quick and not very costly. And if you do need a recharge it's likely there's a leak which they can take care of on the spot. Phil Brown
