I'd never buy a turbo coupled to an automatic for just that reason. Automatics should be matched to at least a v6 so that you have some significant low RPM torque. Also, every car is a compromise of HP, torque, MPG (KPG?), driveability, and fun. You shouldn't try to drive each car as if it were the same as the last - they all have a preferred technique. But, you should understand that some of this lackluster boost is designed into the engine by Saab. The problem is that if you get full boost off the line, it's about 1/2 second from stop to "tear the wheels off the street" when pulling out into traffic. So, Saab builds in a delay to avoid average drivers from driving up a tree. With a standard, you can do a bit of a workaround by revving over 2.5K RPM or so just before you pull out. With careful use of the clutch, you advance quickly into traffic with no problems. A better workaround is to install a ECU upgrade (or for older Trionics possibly a manual boost control) that gives you full power off the line. Some intake and exhaust improvements help spin up too. You have to be very careful to back off the throttle as you pull out, because you will have significant boost very quickly. Bob
