Thanks all for your help. The problem was indeed the fuel pump. I was able to purchase an exact replacement Walbro "pump insert" (just the electric pump part) and install it into the in-tank housing. The hardest parts of the job were removing the large locking ring that holds the pump assembly into the tank (I made a "spanner" out of a piece of 1-by-6 lumber) and then removing the plastic fuel line that connects the electric pump to a T fitting. I had to cut off the plastic tubing and replace it with a piece of high-pressure fuel injector hose and clamps. The car started right up and runs great. Joe -- Joseph P.
