I don't use my cell phone in the car. I discovered, to my dismay, that I am the cell phone user from hell. I get wrapped up in the conversation and totally forget that I'm driving. So it stays turned off when I'm in the car and if I need to call someone and tell them I'm running late -- usually a new acquaintance since old ones KNOW I'm running late -- I pull into a parking lot to do it. Cell phones have simply become a menace. How many times have you been in a supermarket and got stuck in the middle of an aisle behind some fool who's standing there talking on the phone and can't be bothered to get out of the way? I got broadsided with a shopping cart earlier this evening by someone who had a phone glued to her ear. The fact that she had hit me hard and then ran over my foot with the cart didn't make her miss a beat in her conversation.
