My manual states exactly what you describe (2001 9-5 SE) Manual recommends carrying extra key when away from home. When I bought my car in 2001, dealer told me it would cost $1200 for a new computer! This is one reason why I went with Audi when I replaced my wife's Volvo (pick up the Audi tomorrow.) I like the Saab, but things like this will probably take me elsewhere when I replace it in 2 years.
