Since I've owned it my C900 has had 2 oil changes and a filter, a new airfilter (cone replacing the bucket and plumbing), new NGK plugs, new highpower light bulbs, and lots of Vac hosing, and bailey alloy recirc valve replacing the worn out Bosch one. Tonight, as the weather was decent, and it was due a change, I did the filter and oil again (now 3rd oil change (every 3k), second filter (every 6k)). Engine oil was nicely brown, and not extremely dirty, but even with synth, I'm sticking to the 3k changes routine. Decided that even though the levels are good, I should tackle the trans fluid (last owner couldn't remember when it was last done). Found the drainplug. Got it loosened. Put the catch can underneath. And unscrewed the drainplug. My dear god (no offense mean't to anyone of a religious belief here), the colour of that fluid was black as midnight. Also, in the fluid, and stuck to the magnetic plug were the usual filings, plus some larger flakes mangled up, but slightly curved, and very thin when you flattened them. Looked like they may have formed a circle or band at some point. Now the new fluid is in, the box sounds slightly quieter, and shifts a little easier, but is still displaying the previous symptoms of ocassionally popping out of gear (normally 1, 2, but very rarely 3) usually when on a trailing throttle. -- Carl Robson (The poster formerly known as Skodapilot) http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
