Personally, I'd go with a 9000cs/cse, or an MB e-class from 1986 on.... that's if you don't mind rear wheel drive- I love it, unless there';s snow on the ground.... Jettas haven't been that reliable as of late, and are generally overpriced. bmw 5 series are nice, but here in the states it's tough to find good manuals for them and you don't want to deal with bmw out of warranty...
