"I need you all to do new schedules" he says "based on where we are today". So, my friend pipes up and says "You know, they revise the project every two weeks and ask us to do new schedules. Since it takes 2 days to do right and we don't have 2 days to waste, they always tell us 'give it your best shot' and 'we won't hold you to it, just spend a couple hours and give us an idea of where we stand, we know the project is dynamic'. Honestly, it's a real waste of time". "Oh ?", says our new manager "Well that's going to change". (At this point our eyes light up, thinking that this guy knows software and is going to freeze the spec and let us finish the software at last) "No", he says, "We're going to hold you to it". :-) Bob
