Hello, we have a 97 9000 Aero manual :) too and the instrument lighting works exactly the same. when the lights are off, it is off, if you turn the lights on, it is dull for a second and then bright, this sounds normal to me. did you check the rheostat (its used to adjust the brightness of the instrument lighting) its on the left side of the steering wheel, a little rippled knob that you can turn up and down. the oxygen sensor, well, as you already said, it is stuck into the exhaust and has nothing to do with that. and if you dont have any bucking, slow acceleration, low boost, low gas mileage problems or check engine light always on problems, i woulndt bother to replace it. bye simon
