I'm an idiot. The "front" of the tread blocks was when I was checking them on the TOP of the tire -- so of course that would correspond to the BACK of the block on the ground. So the front of the tread blocks had more wear. Why this happened on a non-driven wheel is a mystery to me. No comments on using the 17" all-season tires? Gary
