Subject: What is a 1994 900S vs a 900SE ?

I ask this question because we're selling the car and there is a significant difference in private party prices between the two models. As some history: The car is a US spec SAAB 900S purchased in Germany in early 1994. When we bought the car there were no 900SE's, only 900S' with or without the V6. All the V6 900S' were equipped with what is now seems to be the SE package (using Kelley Blue Book). We also have the optional addition of a multidisc player in the trunk. The only 'options' the car does not have are the integrated child seats in the back, automatic climate control, and the premium sound system. Later in the year I did see some 900SE's. They were identical to the car we own, but had a 900SE badge. The dealer told us Saab originally was to use the V6 as a distinction for trim levels thereby matching the European lineage, but decided to use SE for the US spec models equipped with the V6's and upgraded trim package. We had previous dealings with the dealer. She has a loooong history of incredibly satified customers so I believe she was telling me the truth. The obvious issue now is the substantial loss in $$$ between the two trims. It's a dealer maintained car with 151K in very decent condition and I feel $4,000 is a fair price. KBB says I should get $3,500 for a S and $4,600 for an SE. <uggh> So what's the difference between a loaded out S equalling the SE's options and a base SE? Am I senile and just losing my memory? Do any of you Saab afficiondos/experts know the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Curiosity more than anything. Thanks, Nate -- Why is it all the sensors seeking intelligent life are pointed away from earth?
