Subject: Re: 9000 or 9-5?

I had a 1996 9000 Aero for three years, then changed it for a 1999 9-5 Estate 2.3t. Upgraded the 9-5 with a Step 1 conversion from Hirsch to 220bhp. Still didn't like it and after 18 months bought another 9000 Aero (1995), which I love. 9-5 is more luxurious inside, but has hopeless cubby hole space. I was grateful for the warranty which paid for all the display units to be replaced. The turbo went (out of warranty) at 58,000 miles costing me a £1,400 repair. The 9000 does however feel like a "real" car. I lack the eloquence to put it into words. I know I am now driving a car first designed in the early 1980's as opposed to a 1990's design, but it feels safe, it goes well, my family prefer it. The load mat from the back of the 9-5 estate virtually matches the load space in the 9000, so I haven't lost any boot space. I do feel a twinge of regret to be driving around in an "old" car, but I lost £250 per month on the 9-5 in depreciation, and the 9000 will creep down much much less, especially as the 9000 only has 68,000 miles on the clock and I sold the 9-5 with the same mileage. Are there many others out there who have gone back to a 9000 from choice ?
