It's a pain in the arse. We had a cracked bottom mount, so the alternator was wobbling. The one that's gone in has bushes that are fairly mediocre, but will live for the purposes we have for the car (see sig - anybody in the UK see yesterday's Sunday Times? That'll be us in a week and a half!) To remove it (UK RHD car), you really need to remove the water hoses above the alternator. Undo the adjustment arm bolt, and remove. You can then take the belts off, and flop the alternator down to do the top and front allen bolts. Beware, they'll be bloody tight and probably corroded in. Use a good allen key. When they're done, you can tip the alternator to the block and get in underneath it for the third bolt. There's no point in removing the hinge bolt, because it won't come out with the alternator in the car... Don't forget to disconnect the battery before you start. -- Adrian dakar - at - chapmanconsult - dot - co - dot - uk Team Desert Vikings, Plymouth-Dakar 2004 www.coldsoba.com/desertvikings www.plymouth-dakar.co.uk
