Hey guys, i didnt post in quite a while, i was just busy with work and working on my car.. so far ive replaced/had replaced the transmission with another... the clutch, as some of you might remember, i wanted to put in a AP racing clutch disc, sachs clutch kit but well the sachs clutch would have been over 1000 euros and ap couldnt deliver in under 4 weeks, so i just went for the normal 2.0T lukas clutch and so far i havent expierenced any slip, i think its more about having a new and good pressure plate than about the disc, as im not putting out more than 310-330 Nm right now anyways. then i replaced the lower motor mounts with a friend, damn they were a bitch to get out, they really looked like they had the whole 280.000km on them... the front one was completely separated, it came out in 2 pieces and alot of rubber was missing already the piece with the bolt looked kinda like a mushroom :) the rear one was badly worn too, split and falling apart. im now completely convinced that this was the reason for my 2nd gear jumping out in right turns problem, but the gearbox was good invested money ,i got it for 300 euros and it is SO much quieter, no whine and crunching at all, just its a little bit harder to put in 1st and 2nd than on my old one... but that might as well be my imagination. the old gearbox was leaking oil as well, it was cracked, the new one is completely dry, unlike my engine, which is leaking down few amounts of oil down the valve cover gasket i think as well as some water down the water pump or the reservoir .. but i dont care too much about that right now :) after that repairs the car drove SO much better, it felt like it was on rails, ok almost like that due to the worn dampers and shocks :) but it was solid ill just have to replace the right anti-roll bar bushing, the left one is already new, but i dont feel like peeling off the damn plastic cover right now. but yesterday i noticed that the cv boot was ripped in pieces, i still dont know how this has happened... i just drove the car carefully to a friends and we replaced the rubber boots, the outer one ripped in pieces and the inner one slipped off !!! we inspected the cv joint, it was fine, no cupping or wear .. i didnt have any vibrations when accelerating either, so we just regreased and refit everthing, the clamp that came with the boot was not useable tho, it just didnt fit tight enough, so we used a cable tie for now and im going to put on another clamp soon, the ball joint is kinda worn, so now i have to replace this too, it isnt really bad yet, but it is very soft, has not much resistance and i get ocassional clunking sounds.. due to the motor mounts my downpipe was worn more than normal too, the flexible piece is going to break apart soon, but thats just another justification for the 3" JT downpipe :) my APC solenoid was also kinda whacky so i replaced the screws and i replaced the blow-off valve too with a Bosch 110 one, i thought mine would have been the 104 or 107, but it was probably already replaced in the past, because it was a 110 too, i couldnt blow through it, but boost is MUCH more stable, come on earlier and stays up longer with the new valve, i can also liste quite a bit of Whoosh what i didnt get before, now the car constantly boosts 2/3 red (i have speedparts chiptuning), which is quite good, i dont have exact boost readings but when i get a gauge i will take them. i didnt resurface the flywheel because it was in a really good condition, and there were no signs of glazing/hot spots, i also replaced the throwout bearing, slave and master cylinder as tehy were both leaking...clutch is now soft and very controllable. now i just need a higher rated fuel pressure regulator, because acceleration seems a bit "flat" with higher rpms and the ball joint, all-in-all my car feels great again and its putting a smile on my face everytime i push the pedal down to the oilpan. i just want to remind everyone, check your lower motor mounts, they WILL fail over the time, replace them when they are split. bye simon
