Subject: '97 900SE Thermostat?

So I haven't driven the wife's '97 900SE 2.0T (automatic) for a month or two, then after driving it yesterday for 20+ minutes (in 32F/0C weather) I noticed the engine temp gauge hadn't moved; pegged to the bottom. Three weeks ago, the coolant needed to be topped-off again (was topped-off 3 months ago too [maybe 4 - 6 oz each time]). No leaks evident. No white smoke/exhaust. Could this be a thermostat failure or something more seriou$? Thanks in advance. -- J.Harris '01 9-3SE '97 900SE '88 9000T (R.I.P.)
