First check that the lock catch is in the correct position to allow the hatch to close and latch. If you examine the mechanism (on the hatch) and the striker pin (on the car body) you'll see that it catches a pin, and wraps a hook around it as it closes. Get a thick screwdriver, and immitate this action by sliding it into the latch. I hope that makes sense! -- Grunff
